OUR PROJECTS
Storytelling & Documentaries
-
Our team plans on traveling to the Poland/Ukrainian border to assist forcibly displaced people. Their stories of perseverance, struggle, and bravery will be incorporated into the Beyond Statistics program through the creation of a mini-documentary that will feature discussions and support of NGO’s, volunteers, and the voices of Ukrainian citizens displaced by the war.
Compassion Generation
-
Part of our mission is to use our storytelling and documentaries to educate our next generations of changemakers to include purpose and compassion in their careers.
Courage, determination and resiliency are all trademarks of forcibly displaced and immigrant communities. The stories and journey’s of those impacted by conflict and displacement must be shared with our Compassion Generation to cultivate compassion and truly prepare our youth to be productive and compassionate global citizens.
Our team is availa2le to visit your school or organization to shar0 our message, share our stories 3nd engage in a dialogue of acceptance and understanding.
Congreso Gifts
-
Our annual tradition of donating gifts to the young children at Philadelphia-based, nonprofit, Congreso de Latinos Unidos, is now on its third year.
In collaboration with the Congreso staff, we receive a list of 25-30 children, under 10 years old, for our team to purchase a small gift/toy for the Christmas Holiday. Our efforts provide smiles for these young children and are very much appreciated by their families. The Congreso mission of supporting the Latino community is fundamental to new arrivals to Philadelphia, and our efforts are a small component to support their initiatives and meaningful efforts.
Beyond the Statistics
-
A part of our mission is to cultivate compassion. It is not sufficient to simply watch the brief reports and read shortened statistics presented by the media. We believe it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that we share, educate and drive action from our next generation of change-makers by amplifying the message of the millions of forcibly displaced citizens worldwide.
Our “Beyond the Statistics” initiative is focused on developing and delivering presentation to Universities and students highlighting the human impact of being displaced by political and military conflict. Our documentaries and presentations include impacted citizens who shares real life experience for their search for safety and freedom. According to the UN, there are over 103 million forcibly displaced people globally. Half of the world’s refugees are children. Human lives are impacted every day, and we must look Beyond the Statistics.
Immigrant Support
-
As a native of Colombia, I am keenly familiar with the challenges of arriving in a foreign land with a language barrier and limited resources.
Our passions are shaped by personal experience. Our mission supports immigrant communities and pro-immigrant policies by local, state and federal governments.
In our current divided country, we must all protect human dignity and be outspoken about those that threaten the rights of the people seeking a better life.
Ukraine Assistance
-
On April 4, 2022, we contacted St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. We attended church service at St. Nicholas the previous week and learned about the 11 Ukrainian citizens that arrived to Philadelphia and were living at the church rectory.
We immediately engaged in fundraising to support the new arrivals and via the generosity of friends and family, made an initial donation of $7,500.00. Our efforts continue and we are expanding our efforts to provide additional support locally and directly to the freedom fighters in Ukraine.
Bridges 2030 continues to fundraise to provide essentials to the citizens of Ukraine such as generators for heat and electricity. Your support and donations will support these efforts.
